One row, one monkey.

An original Monodoku puzzle. The real game has thousands more.

Place exactly one monkey in each row, column and numbered color region. Monkeys cannot touch, even diagonally. Enable JavaScript to try the interactive example.

Tap to mark. Double-tap to place.
Tap again to clear your own X marks. Correct animals and Xs from wrong placements stay put, just like in the app.

Is this Sudoku?

Monodoku is a Queens-style placement puzzle, with animals instead of numbers. Each row, column and color region needs one animal. Animals cannot touch, even diagonally. Unlike chess queens, animals can share a diagonal when they are not neighbors.

Can I play offline?

Yes. Puzzles, saved progress and installed themes work offline. Downloading new themes, rewarded videos and online services need a connection.

Will it be free?

Monodoku is planned as a free game with ads. Rewarded videos are optional: you can choose one for a tool refill, more lives or an extra reward.

Can I keep my progress on another device?

Your game saves on your device, including while offline. At launch, optional cloud saves will use Game Center and iCloud on Apple devices, or Google Play Games on Android. Use the same accounts on both devices and reconnect before switching. Apple and Android cloud saves are separate; there is no automatic cross-platform sync. You can also export a backup in Settings.

What achievements can I earn?

There are 18 achievements for solving puzzles, playing daily, keeping streaks, learning techniques and unlocking themes. Puzzle milestones run from your first solve to 10,000. You can earn them locally while offline; Game Center and Google Play Games integration is planned for launch. Achievements do not cost theme credits or require purchases.
